• Fame: Known as the “Boy Pharaoh”
Key Facts
• He reversed Akhenaten’s religious reforms and restored the worship of Amun.
• His tomb (KV62) in the Valley of the Kings was discovered intact in 1922 by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.
• It is one of the only unrobbed royal tombs in ancient Egypt, with thousands of precious artifacts found inside.
The Golden Burial Mask
• Material: Solid gold with lapis lazuli, carnelian, turquoise, and glass.
• Weight: About 11 kilograms.
• Symbols: Uraeus cobra and vulture represent the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt; the false beard links him to Osiris, the god of the afterlife.
• Now kept at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza.
