Lord Murugan (also spelled Muruga) is the Hindu God of War, Strength, Youth, and Wisdom. He is the patron deity of Tamil people, widely worshipped across South India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore.

In Sanskrit scriptures, he is known as Kartikeya, Skanda, Subramanya, or Shanmukha. As the first‑born son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and brother of Lord Ganesha, he embodies divine courage, victory in battles, and spiritual enlightenment.

Part 2: Birth & Divine Origin

According to the Skanda Purana, Murugan’s birth had a sacred mission: to defeat the demon Tarakasura, who had a boon that only Shiva’s son could kill him.

- Lord Shiva’s divine seed was carried by Agni (fire god) to the Ganges, where it became six radiant infants.

- The six Krittika stars (Pleiades) nursed them.

- Goddess Parvati merged the six into one: Shanmukha (the six‑faced god), with six heads and twelve arms.

His birth symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and divine power manifesting to protect the world.
