The reason why I chose The Great Gatsby

This is not the first time I hear this book. It is in my class English Reading Strategies that i first know this book. In that time, I just saw it as a story about love, money and power. And i still remember some characers in this book, Jay Gatsby—— a newly rich man from lower class, Daisy Bushanan——Gatsby's fiest love. So i thought this storyer tells the love between them.
However, later i know it has the deeper meaning, and it reflect something of that period. So this time i chose this book for the reason that i want to read the complex human nature, the author's writing style and the value and truth behind the story.
Totally, I want read this book with my thoughts and understanding.
So the first step is that i searched about the background of this book:
The setting of the novel is the United States after World War I: The economy was booming after the war, and industry and consumerism developed rapidly. Young people were addicted to parties, alcohol and material pleasures (referred to as the "Jazz Age"); However, beneath the surface revelry, there were hidden cracks such as class stratification, moral decline and the "American Dream" (meaning "success can be achieved through hard work") - these laid the groundwork for Gatsby's tragedy.
And next hope i enjoy this story and the reflection of the times hidden beneath.
