我觉得Simon作为所有孩子中唯一看透了beast的本质—我们内心的恐惧与阴暗面—的孩子，作为唯一一个敢于孤身前往森林寻找真相的勇敢者，作为唯一一个与猪头进行哲学性、甚至神性的幻想对话的孩子，他身上有种很强的宗教色彩—牺牲、赎罪、alienation
他成熟地认识到人类内心的野蛮、兽性、黑暗面；他敏感地看到孩子们关于beats的噩梦有多少mental signs；他像先知一般预见到小岛的未来；可是他身上这种清醒、孤僻、远超同龄人的思考注定他没法融入这个群体，就像Jesus Christ 一样牺牲。某种程度来说，他成为小岛的第一个受害者是必然的，而杀死Simon的这场狂欢就是小岛堕落开始的标志。（题外话，就连Ralf也参与了这场疯狂原始的谋杀是我万万没想到的，当时感觉对Ralf的人格印象崩塌了）

In the establishment of the characters and the arrangement of the story, Simon is like Jesus. Finally, Simon was killed alive by the children who were raving and worshiping God and mistaking them for "beasts", which is just like the ritual of Jesus' crucifixion on the cross. So he seems so calm and intelligent, far beyond his peers, unable to integrate into this group. He is indeed the only one who has seen through the nature of the beast, and wants others to understand that this nature is evil in human nature. But there are too few God like people like him. More of them are Ralph, who has human shortcomings and adheres to rational democracy.
