Since this march the government hammered out the policy that museums and memorials all over China should open to the public free of charge, Hunan Provincial Museum has received visitors for nearly two hundred and forty thousand in total. The museum hands out at most five thousand free tickets each day, but some people still fail to fulfill their wish the very day. It is obvious that would- be visitors far outweigh a capacity of five thousand each day. In that case, it cannot be avoid that thousands of people scramble for the tickets by joining a long queue and waiting from dawn to dusk.

I had such a marvelous experience in person last month. Once I got off the bus, I was shocked at---people. It was just eight, and the museum would open at a quarter to nine. Yet a long queue, that extended as far as my eyes could see, confronted me. I roughly calculated that it was almost over one thousand people in front of me. For God’s sake, I would rather buy the ticket than stand in the sun for hours. While I was hesitating about leaving or staying, people in twos or threes constantly crowded in this direction in torrents. And less than half an hour, a line, along with the length of the front queue, wound back of me. Therefore, why should I give up?

Then I took a deep breath, and counted the time away with equanimity. One hour passed. Two hours wore on. However, the long snake was still in its hibernation. Passers-by and passengers on buses watched our long march zigzagging from the gate of Hunan Provincial Museum to the west gate of Martyrs Park, as funny as a comic show.

Eventually, at twelve o’clock when my hunger might wolf down a horse, I saw the gate of the museum. It was a triumph after the arduous struggle of four hours. Closer I approached to the gate, greater would my hope be. How happy I was! I was told to enter the museum within half an hour, because the visiting flows were extremely controlled---five people were let in every two minutes for the tickets. Therefore, with hunger and tiredness, I was showed around the museum for another two hours. When at last I ended my visitation with extreme exhaustion, I saw some people were still waiting outside, so, I should count my blessings. Shouldn’t I?

But I wonder: Can’t we enjoy the free treatment without so much trouble? Better service is expected urgently! I hope the long-queue-problem would be solved as soon as possible. Then, everyone enables to enrich his knowledge and have a good day.
