Never Give Up on Yourself
In advanced writing class on Monday, Mr. Ma showed us an interesting short cartoon. It is incredible that the main character should be dung of dog. He came to the world and considered what he could do. Unfortunately, no idea occurred to him. One day, a hen, leading her children, passed by and stopped to regard the dung carefully and see whether it was edible. The dung told the hen he would like to be eaten by them. However, the hen replied without any appreciation:” No, no, I do not think you deserve to be a meal to my lovely children. You are not nutritious at all.” The dung was left alone, disappointed and miserable. The hen’s remark haunted the dung .Days passed quietly, still nobody pay attention to him. He complained:” Why does the God create such humble and useless creature as me?” At night, he looked up at the starry sky and imagined how wonderful it would be if he could became one of them. At the time he was about to lose heart, he with a surprise discovered that a tender plant was growing beside him. The plant told him:” I will be a beautiful flower in the future, but I need fertilizer. You are just what I need. Will you help me?” The dung’s eyes were filled with tears. He controlled his exciting emotions and replied:” I would like to.” In the end, the dung was absorbed by the plant and the plant became a beautiful flower.
The cartoon came to the end, but I could not cease to think, to think over my attitudes about life. I find that I have something in common with the poor protagonist. I am regretful about what I have done in the past. I am confused about what I am doing at present. I am not clear about what can I do in the future. Therefore, I used to compare myself to grass without pleasant scent or elegant carriage. It seems that I am in a more unpleasant situation. But I don’t intend to live my life in complaints and tears. Even if I am not a flower but grass, I also have the right to live in the word and demonstrate my life stories. I believe that everyone was born to be useful. Perhaps you can’t make a great or powerful achievement .But it does not matter, if you have realized your life-value. After all, the purpose of life is not to get the greatest success, but to achieve you proper goal.
In reality, many people spend too much time admiring others’ glory, popularity and charming personalities but forget to go ahead in life. It is the same case with me. When my failures encounter other people’s success, I will be ashamed and belittle myself. However, at that moment, I know that I can’t give up on myself. The reason is if a person gives up on himself, he will be a real failure.
Life is not fixed as one believes. Something unexpected may lie in store for you .But no matter what sorrows you will be faced with, don’t give up on yourself.
