The Origin of My Name
                           
My name is ChenXiaoxiao , of course , in which first name is my family name . The meanning of “xiao” in Chinese is deep and clear water. In ancient times , many poets or men of letters used to live out the world in remote places such as villages and mountains due to various reasons. Some of them chose XiaoShui to live in privacy,hence goes the olding saying:”A man of honour lives in XiaoShui”. Therefore “xiao” is represented by the characters for nobleness.”Xiao” also means nuttiness, a state of freedom and pleasure. In some way ,”xiaoxiao”, sound of wind and rain ,often appears in chinese poems, which expresses feelings beyond the surface of the character.
Given by my father, my name contains the his dream----living with sword and poem. He is fond of reading KungFu novels and classic peoms and hope I could not only have a remantic temperament but also be a broad-minded girl.
There is another story about my name . As my father said, my grandfather called me “chunxiang”, but my mother laughted for several seconds and refused it straight away because she couldn’t stand such tacky and common name. Then she took a book about five elements to ask my father to think a name including water, according the date of my birth having elements of aurum, wood, fire, earth, but lacking of water. It is believed that people having five elements could enjoy themselves. So my father chose “xiaoxiao” as my name.
In fact , I had ever planted to change my name, but I gave it up when I was moved by my father who painted many pictures with the scenery of mountains and streams as poems refering to “xiaoxiao”. My father said that you would feel sad if you only saw cood rain dropping into a dark river; you would find beauty if you saw sweet rain falling where it wants to; even you would taste heroic spirit in a heavy rain. How to think it just depended on myself just as what a kind of people I would like to be. At that moment, I unstood my father.
I love my name ----ChenXiaoxiao because it was given by my father. And I think It sounds nice. Do you agree with me ?
