Summary of the Content
In Part 4, Josie’s condition deteriorates, and Klara firmly believes the Sun’s power can save her. She seeks confirmation from Rick about the sincerity and eternity of his love for Josie, hoping to use this as a "bargaining chip" with the Sun, and travels alone to the barn to pray. Josie’s mother is consumed by anxiety over her daughter’s illness, straining their relationship further. While recovering, Josie shows Klara a box of photos, revealing that her late sister Sal had also undergone the genetic "Lift."
After Josie improves, a quarrel erupts between her and her mother over a rectangular board game, but the mother compromises due to Josie’s fragility. Before a trip to Morgan Falls, the mother takes Klara ahead and laments the "luck" of Klara’s lack of emotions, to which Klara replies that the more she observes, the richer her emotions become.
