1.Chinese prefers abstract nouns, while English focuses on verbs: Chinese often uses nouns to express abstract concepts, while English relies more on verbs and specific expressions. For example, "Adherence to Marxism" can be simplified as "adhere to Marxism", using verbs instead of nouns to make the language more dynamic.
2.Methods for correcting redundant nouns:
Change Noun to verb (e.g. "improvement" → "improve")
Change Noun to gerund(e.g. "reinforcement" → "strengthening")
Change nouns to adverbs/adjectives (e.g. "blindness in action" → "acting blindly")
Straighten the statement (e.g., "role of experts" to "knowledge and abilities of experts").
Reflections:
The overuse of nouns is a typical problem in Chinglish, which stems from the dependence of Chinese thinking on abstract concepts. For example, "work of" in "the work of planning" is redundant and should be used directly as "planning". It is necessary to cultivate the English thinking of "verb first" through a lot of practice, and avoid word-for-word translation.
