Reading these chapters has deeply impressed upon me the rigid requirement for "formal logic" in English expression. As native Chinese speakers, we are accustomed to relying on context to convey implicit relationships, but English requires logical chains to be made explicit through structure. For instance, regarding the positional problem of phrases mentioned in Chapter 9, the adverbial position in the Chinese sentence "他昨天在公园开心地散步" is flexible, while the English sentence "He walked happily in the park yesterday" must strictly follow the order of "manner-place-time." This difference has often caused me to mix up the priority of information in writing. Chapter 10's discussion of dangling modifiers highlights the typical error of semantic smoothness but logical inconsistency. I once wrote, "By studying hard, the exam score improved," failing to notice that the logical subject of "studying" should be "I" rather than "score." Such errors stem from the transfer of Chinese implicational thinking, mistakenly assuming that context can compensate for structural gaps. In future writing, I need to strengthen my awareness of the "subject-predicate logical chain," clarify the agent of each non-finite verb structure before writing.
