The Mississippi River is the fourth longest river in the world. It is also the longest, widest and largest river in North America. The main stream of the Mississippi River originates from the west of Lake Superior. The Lake Ataca, 500 meters above sea level in northwestern Minnesota, the Mississippi River flows through the central plains of North America and eventually flows into the Gulf of Mexico. It is 3950 kilometers long. However, if the source of the Missouri River, the longest tributary on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains, is taken as the starting point, the total length is 6262 kilometers.
