An Immortal Bird
In Greek mythology, Apollo, the god of the sun, the son of the king of gods, fell in love with Sibylle, a mortal girl. With a surge of love, our mighty god made a promise that he would give her whatever she wanted. “An immortal life,” She threw out her wish upon impulse. However, her silly act dragged the rest of her life into the slime.It is commonly acknowledged that the sweet, thrilling youth flashes away rapidly, so that several years passed, and then several centuries did. 700years ago, with the brutal time, the charming girl became a wrinkly. When a group of children found the feeble and ugly monster and asked what she wanted, she cried out fiercely in a bottle, “I want to die!”
As life is so limited and full of unexpectable allure, most of us, like Sibylle, hope to grasp and enjoy every fragment of it, while we are deeply in awe of the Death. At this time, we are blinded to the real reasons for why we adore our life, and why we desire to live as long as possible.
Actually, it is because of the things we loved. Maybe they are our friends and relatives, maybe they are our hobbies, and maybe it is just a flower of smile blooming on the lovely face, just a drizzle in April, or a great full moon gleaming in a purple sky…they are bewitched us, body and soul.
With love, a short life also can blossom into a romantic legend, while without it, even an immortal life is but nonsense. Just like a spring, love nurtures the flower of our life consistently, and then my dear friends, with the love in our heart, when you come across the death, do not fear it as death is part of our life. We can not eradicate it from our life. To be honestly, when our lovers were gone and life was nothing to us, death is regarded as a lavish from God for us.
Be happy, smile, and calmly face what life displays to us. We can not choose the length of our life, but we can make it deep inside.
Let our life be beautiful like summer flowers and death like autumn leaves.
