To Achieve Success like Robinson Crusoe Did

Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe which was generally regarded as the first novel in English. The book is a fictional autobiography of the title character, an English castaway who spends 28 years on a remote island encountering Native Americans, captives and mutineers before being rescued.
Robinson Crusoe is a hero worth of worship, because he succeeded for all those remarkable qualities that he possesses and all the hard work that he had done, not by good luck which most people longing for success are hoping to get.
Robinson Crusoe was always not satisfied with his current status. And once he had a dream of making a change, nothing can stop him from realizing it. Early in his teenage years, he had the strong will to go sailing though he might have a prospect of making great fortune and living an easier and more pleasant life if he chose to stay. Having lost two of his three sons, Robinson’s father was surely not willing to allow his only beloved son to go sailing. However, Robinson finally chose to pursuit the life he really wanted. Anyone who wants to achieve success must have such passion on what he wants to do as Robinson does. If he is not so interested in what he is currently doing, he should also obtain the courage and wisdom to make a right choice and quit wasting time. This is the foundation of achieving success.
During his days on the remote island, Robinson Crusoe encountered the most awful thing in his life, but he never gave up. When the ship wrecked, no one else but him managed to escape. Facing the distress, he continued to be positive. As the only one who survived, with nothing but a knife, a tobacco-pipe and a little tobacco with him, Robinson was thrown into so terrible a situation that he ran about for a while like a madman but he was still rational. He walked along the shore and found some fresh drinking water which is essential in maintaining one’s life. With the help of the tobacco he had, he tried to prevent hunger. And then he found a tree on which he could sleep after having been excessively fatigued. His being rational and positive on such occasion opened the door of life to him when he was in desperation.
What’s more, Robinson is a man with extraordinary creativity and working capacity. He spent 28 years on the remote island. In order to survive, he continuously thought about how to get enough food. During those years, he learned to raise goats and make furniture by himself. By the time when he left there, the island had almost become a minimal country.
Robinson Crusoe is very kind. He showed so great mercy on the moor and the little goat that he didn’t kill them even if he could. He is also very strong-minded. He gradually got used to his lonely life on the remote island and began to face up to the reality. And as he changed his attitude towards the difficulties he had on the island, he started to enjoy his life. His shabby cave and shelter turned to his nice apartment and manor. He taught the parrot English so that he could have someone to talk with. He felt proud for any small progress he made. The Bible also played an important role in guiding him through the hard years on the island and helping him control his emotions to become a peaceful man.
Robinson loved life, although life was tough to him on the island. That’s why he always tried to live a better life. The desire of living better made him work harder and harder and provide him with the source of his creativity and working capacity.
Yet nobody is perfect. Robinson also has shortcomings. Sometimes he was not confident enough, and sometimes he was a little too fetishistic. He was not born to be successful. He learned and obtained those great qualities gradually as he grew and made one progress after another.
We are now on our way of achieving success. Maybe our current situation is not as tough as an isolated island is, but we could still learn something though Robinson Crusoe’s story. However difficult it is to overcome the obstacles, there is always a way out as long as we have the faith and perseverance to fight against it.
