Strong Will Makes A Way

"A man is not made for defeat; a man can be destroyed but not defeated."
In one of the most famous works of Erneat Hermingway, Santiago, an aging fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream, presents us a marvelous adventure. After a long battle with the tenacious fish, the wounded and tired Santiago is, on his way back to the shore, involved in the combat with lots of ferocious sharks attracted to the trail of blood left by the marlin in the water. At last, the old man is back to his shack with safety. The novel receives worldwide praises and the old man is regarded as an embodiment of strong will.
As the famous line goes, "where there is a will, there is a way". Strong will plays an irreplaceable role in human history. It inspired lots of people in the pursuit of their dream.
A half century ago, in Japan, every morning lots of people would wait in a long line to buy a bowl of hot noodles in a short time before going to the work. It inspired a bankrupted man. Realizing it was an opportunity for him to get out of the desperate straits, he spent 20 hours each day on making the experiment. One year later, in August 1958, the first packet of instant noodle appeared on the market. Thus, a new industry was built, attracting much attention worldwide.
Strong will comes with the determination to overcome all kinds of hardships in life. The French novelist and playwright Balzac said: Hardships is a stepping stone for the talent, a fortune for the capable, the abyss for the weak. Great men would turn these difficulties into self-strength. When it comes to the Trojan War, we couldn't ignore the legendary Greek hero Odysseus. He came up with the "Trojan Horse" trick which decided the triumph of Greek. After the ten-long-year war, Odysseus set sail for his rocky island home of Ithaca to reunite with his beloved wife and child. He and his companions had, however, revenged by Poseidon, gone through all kinds of hardships and difficulties for another ten years. They experienced the danger of being transformed into swine by a beautiful enchantress Circe, the seductive melodies of treacherous nymphs---the Sirens and avoided the monster Scylla and Charybdis. Then he was detained by Calypso, a daughter of the Titan Atlas, for seven long years. At last, Odysseus managed to arrive at his homeland with his yearning towards his families. Just because of his strong will can Odysseus find a way to his country. That is the very power of strong will.
In my part, strong will makes a way, which doesn't mean it would certainly bring you the material happiness or wealth. Otherwise, there is no sense in talking about the poor fishing man who was regarded as a failure by someone for his adventure brought no material wealth to him. Material happiness wouldn't last long while happiness comes from the process of achieving your life dream gives you satisfaction and fulfillment. It serves as a lighthouse in your gloomy time, guiding you to the way ahead. It is an invisible asset in your whole life.
