Individuals ≠ Society

Individuals cannot represent the whole society, no matter who they are. Individuals are always the elements of our society, which compose it and make it varied and colorful. Each individual has his own characteristics, some are different from others’, and some are just the same. Only combine all individuals and features together and let them become a unity, can we regard it as the main character of the society, which benefit the people to understand the phenomena of the present.
Heroes and role models are the ones selected as the society’s highest ideals from all citizens because of noble character, kindhearted, heroic deeds or even die a heroic death. They can certainly represent the society, but the good and justice side only.
As far as I am concerned, a society is very similar to a person, has either advantages or disadvantages. That’s normal! Take our country as an example. China is a developing country, which is still imperfect in many aspects. Gradual develop of the economy and sustained and stable increase of the GDP make it a rich and powerful nation. But what on earth are the facts blanketed by the sugar coating of the prosperous economy?
Various problems which don’t correspond to the economy are emerging in an endless stream, materially as well as spiritually. The country does become rich, yet it is almost none of most people’s business of their salaries. The gap between the rich and the poor are wider and wider. People of salariat have to live a normal and happy base on low income under such high commodity prices. How ridiculous!
People are not as simple and sincere as before. Officials take advantage of their positions and power to profit their own needs instead of serving the people. Doctors, the one we used to regard as “angels in white” because they can bring life back to a patient are now becoming murders---some of them abandon foundlings when they still alive. People continuously suffered wrongful treatment after helping others, so that they themselves and their family members became mentally and physically exhausted, and even their values were changed. Many bad news go into headlines and flood our eyes everyday---the society and the people are not as harmonious and good as we think. If heroes and role models can be the representation, why did the 18 people turn a blind eye to the two-year old girl who was knocking down and crushing by two cars?
If the heroes and role models can represent the society, our country will always be a swelled-headed one, and will set back on the wheel of history. Never let them represent the society.
