Prometheus
It is believed that some of us have had some knowledge of Prometheus, and, if not, I will shed brief introduction to you.Prometheus is sometimes regarded as Titan for his identity of son of Iapetus(伊阿佩托斯) and brother to the Atlas, Menoetius(墨诺提额斯), and Epimetheus.
During the reign of Zeus, when gods and men were arguing with each other at Mecone, Prometheus, with a view to deceive Zeus ,cut up a bull and divided it into two parts : he wrapped up the best parts and the intestines(肠子) in the skin, while he put stomach st the top, which is one of the worst parts. while the second heap consisted of the bones covered with fat. When Zeus pointed out to him how badly he had made the division, Prometheus desired him to choose, but Zeus with agony, seeing through the stratagem of Prometheus, pick up the heap of bones coated with the fat. So he avenged him by withholding fire from mortals, but Prometheus stole it in a hollow tube .In order to punish men, he caused Hephaestus（赫菲斯托斯） to mould a virgin Pandora whom Athena adorned with all the charms which was calculated to attractmortals; Prometheus was put in chains, and fastened to a pillar, where an eagle sent by Zeus consumed in the daytime his body, which, in every succeeding night, was restored again. Prometheus was thus exposed to perpetual torture, but Heracles(赫拉克勒斯) killed the eagle and delivered the sufferer, with the acceding of Zeus. Prometheus had warned his brother Epimetheus(厄庇墨透斯)of not accepting any present from Zeus, but Epimetheus, ventilating the advice, accepted Pandora, who was sent to him by Zeus, through the mediation of Hermes（赫尔墨斯）. Pandora then lifted the lid of the vessel in which the foresight of Prometheus had concealed all the evils which might torment mortals in life. Diseases and sufferings of every kind now issued forth, but deceitful hope alone remained behind.
