Flood Relief in Action: Chinese Teenager rescued from flood after 90 hoursNanning, Guangxi, April 24 (Xinhua) – Chinese rescuers have saved a 13-year-old teenager trapped by the rising flood water for 90 hours after the flood happened in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Friday.
Xiaohua, a primary school student, was rescued at about 10 a.m. Sunday. She, with her families, was washed away by the sudden floodwater. Fortunately she hit a tall tree and immediately held on to a branch tightly. This girl, with a strong will, suffered the coldness and hunger and never gave up. She was discovered and rescued by the emergency team after 90 hours.
Clad in thick cotton clothes, Xiaohua was carried away on a stretcher by rescuers. An initial medical examination showed the teenager was unhurt.
Xiaofang, group leader of the emergency team, said, “We shipped there at sight of her and she was freed.”
The miracle came as authorities hiked the death toll from the devastating flood to 102.
