Japan's most active volcano: Mountain Fuji erupting

An eruption has started in Japan's most active volcano Mountain Fuji, according to reports reaching here from Shizuoka-ken on Sunday.

The smoke from the eruption can be seen from many places in Japan. Smoke rises from the volcano, Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Shizuoka-ken,Japan.The volcano spewed hot rocks and ash, and many people were injured seriously. "this place can be very dangerous." the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
In the town of Shizuoka-ken about 2 millimeters of ash scattered in the area.

The last major eruption of the volcano happened in 2004, causing damage to local crops, but no one was seriously hurt. Scientists say that if this eruption continues, nobody knows how the damage will be.

Two-thirds of flights were canceled, as were 180 transatlantic flights. Delays and cancellations hit airports from Toronto to Tokyo, and the problems have cost the global air-travel industry an estimated $200 million a day.

Local authorities have taken measures to avoid the unpredictable damage. Local people have been told to leave the town. They are transferred to cities nearby. Food and water will be provided by the government. Tents are on the way for those homeless people. On Monday, most available transport was used to get rescue staff, medical teams and equipment into the affected area.

The situation changed slightly as most rescue teams had arrive. Some countries also have sent their rescue teams in the region, including China, America, England and so on. Local government has promised to make sure that every people will have their new home. And children have been arranged to the local school.

Japan has 108 active volcanoes and is one of most seismically busy areas in the world. Things must be done to avoid more dangerous situation happening.
