Guizhou Province
GUIZHOU, October 4(Xinhua)-At least 18 counties have been cut power by the snow and the number is climbing all the time. Over ten thousand drivers and conductors are stranded on their working routes.
Anhui Province
ANHUI, October 4(Xinhua)-Snow disaster has already taken place in 16 cities. The depth of the accumulated snow has reached 10 centimeters and 50 centimeters in The Dabie Mountains and Mountain Holyoke respectively.

BEIJING, October 6(Xinhua)-Facing to the disaster, the government has sent cotton coats, quilts and camp beds to the afflicted area.
Five armies from five military regions and 10,000 medical workers are leaving for the snow stricken area to operate rescue work.
People from all walks of life are giving freely in response to the appeal for aiding the victims. They donate money or show support in many ways. So far, a Disaster Relief Fund has been set up, receiving one billion yuan in donations from many kindhearted people.
Death toll rises to 2000 in the snow stricken area

BEIJING, October 7(Xinhua)-The big snowstorm in south China is rare in the last decade, which causes 2000 old people and children who cannot bear the low temperature frozen to death, with 300 people still missing, the rescue headquarters said Saturday.
As of 9 p.m. Monday, the lasting heavy snow has left 1458 injured, of which 380 are in severe condition, the rescue headquarters said.

BEIJING, October 9(Xinhua)-The government spokesman has declared that this time’s snow disaster the most expensive disaster in the last 20 years in China, with GDP falling by 40%, according to the Ministry of Finance.
“The top priority is to find the trapped people and take good care of the snow-affected local people. Then, we should work together to jolt the economy out of the recession. Our damaged buildings and facilitates should be reconstructed. Our people should return to a high living standard,” he said.
