7.1 magnitude earthquake-hit in Yunnan province
Kunming, Yunnan, September 9 (Xinhua)—in the morning of September 9 in Kunming, there was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. The exact time was 8 o’clock.

Top political advisor has stressed unity in quake relief. ”We must intensify quake relief work and at the same time stress unity and stability,” said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, at a meeting on Monday.
We believe that we can survive in the earthquake.

People of different religions donates to southwest China quake relief

BEIJING, September 9 (Xinhua) — China’s religious groups have donated 15 million yuan to the relief effort in quake-hit Kunming of Yunnan Province, said the State Administration for Religious Affairs here Monday.

At a ceremony held by the China Taoist Association on Saturday in Beijing, about 1 million yuan was raised for quake relief.

The Buddhist Association of China held a prayer ceremony on Friday also in Beijing collecting 2 million yuan in donations for the quake-hit people, the administration said in a press release.

The Islamic Association of China, Catholic and Christian societies have made donations totaling 1 million yuan.

Religious people in the affected region have also rushed to donate. On Friday, many mosques in Yunnan held fund-rasing prayer ceremonies and a total of 1.9 million yuan and relief materials worth of 2.5 million yuan were raised, the statement said.

The 7.1-magnitude quake has claimed about 1,800 lives, injured 12,962 and left 520 people mmissing.
